Mosaic Blanket

This was started in 2006. It was the first project I tried intarsia. It is about two thirds completed but has remained untouched for years. I will at some point pick it back up again, but what I have already stitched together I want to redo as I'm not happy with the stitching I've done and the yarn used can be clearly seen in places and it annoys me.

Pink Sweater

I think this commenced in early 2007 and then again in 2009. I made it for myself (twice) as I lost a lot of weight inbetween starting it and picking up up again after a number of months not knitting anything. I had to go from the 2nd to largest size, down to the smallest size and it is really still on the very large side on me now.

Anyway some photos of the progress...

I loved how quickly this chunky weight yarn knitted up. The yarn was purchased on ebay for around £4 I think.

Baby cardigans

I havent kept a massive photo record of the baby garments I made, but there were a couple of cardigans which were about 9-12 month size.

First project - garter stitch baby sweater

First project - I wanted something easy to start with. I'd never really followed a pattern before so I didnt want to get confused with anything complicated.

From memory it only took about a week to complete

Introduction

I've been knitting on and off since I was about 7. I vividly remember sitting with my Granny in her living room by the fire with a kids set of wool and tiny plastic needles and being so excited that I could make something.

I first tried to make a patchwork blanket when I was about 11 or 12, but didnt really understand about weight of yarn and tension and all my squares came out different sizes.

When I had my first baby, over 10 years ago now I wanted to make some clothes for her and began with a basic jumper in garter stitch. Since then I have made many different things. This blog will hopefully catalogue some of them to start with, and then be an ongoing record of other WIP.
